About Gifts in Action
Why should I buy Gifts in Action?
Because Gifts in Action are very special presents. Each one you buy will help make the world a fairer place for its poorest people.
Closer to home, your friend or relative will receive a unique gift card that illustrates the type of work your donation might help make possible throughout the world.
You can read more about how easy it is to buy Gifts in Action and how you can help support ActionAid projects on our How does it work page.
How do I buy Gifts in Action?
You can buy them quickly and securely on this website. Alternatively, you can call us free on 0800 085 8550.
How is my money spent?
The money you give will go towards a whole range of programmes to help poor communities overcome poverty. By supporting Gifts in Action, you can trust us to spend the money where the need is greatest. In return your chosen recipient will receive a card illustrating how your donation might be used around the world.
As the examples show, we work with local people to help them access basic rights like a home, water and an education. With the skills and confidence they gain, they go on to further improve their lives - and offer their children a brighter future. With our help, poor communities are then better able to make governments and international companies change unfair practices that affect their lives.

Security & data protection
Will my details be secure?
ActionAid is concerned about security and makes every effort to ensure our transaction process is safe and that your personal information is secure.
ActionAid uses the secured SSL system (Secure Socket Layer) to encrypt all payment information.
Your account is password protected and nobody will have access to it but you. However, to ensure the security and protection of your personal information, we would advise you to use a secure and strong password.
Tell me about password security
- Passwords are case sensitive and must be a minimum of six characters. Adding numbers or special characters will make it more difficult for others to guess.
- If you are using a public computer (e.g. library, Internet cafe), always log out when you've finished using GiftsinAction.org.uk.
Internet security
No data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, ActionAid UK cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems.
How long will you keep my information for?
We will retain your information for as long as you have an active relationship with ActionAid. If you cease to have an active relationship with us or request to receive no further contact, we may retain some basic information in order to avoid sending you unwanted materials in the future, and to ensure that we don't accidentally duplicate information.
Will my information ever go outside the UK?
In certain circumstances specific personal data may be shared with ActionAid members in different parts of the world to enable us to carry out our work, eg in order to enable the operation of the child sponsorship or Next Step programmes. This information does not include financial details and is only ever shared in this way for defined purposes.
ActionAid is aware that countries outside the European Union have differing approaches to data privacy laws, and that enforcement may not be as robust as it is within the European Union. We therefore take particular care if your data goes outside this area.
