After-school activities for poor children
From a loose end to an active start...Baixada Fluminense is a suburb of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Gang violence, drugs and unemployment are rife, meaning even parents who have jobs worry about their children's safety out on the streets. Children go to school in either the morning or the afternoon, but have very few safe places to go and have fun outside school hours.
Your gift could help fund a project that organises after-school activities for poor children. At Casa Da Cultura, children take part in circus skills, computer classes, and practice capoeira (an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines martial arts, music, and dance). After-school activities place these children in a safe environment away from potentially hazardous streets enabling them to fulfil their potential.
