Why should I buy Gifts in Action?

Because Gifts in Action are very special gifts with a difference. Each Gifts in Action gift you buy will help make the world a fairer place for its poorest people.

How is my money spent? 

The products in our Gifts in Action range showcase just some of the ways we work with communities across the world to save lives and help them rebuild for the future. All of the gifts you see are taken from real life examples of our work and we think your friends and family will love them! When you buy a Gifts in Action gift, your donation will be allocated to one of three project areas - defined by the product category. Find out more.

Your details are secure

ActionAid takes the care of your data seriously and undertakes to protect your personal information in a range of ways including secure servers, firewalls and SSL encryption.

We follow payment card industry (PCI) security compliance guidelines when processing credit card payments and any personal information transferred between locations will be both encrypted and password protected.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information using the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data sent to us this way, we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted to our site.

Password security

  • Passwords are case sensitive and must be a minimum of six characters. Adding numbers or special characters will make it more difficult for others to guess.
  • If you are using a public computer (e.g. library, Internet cafe), always log out when you've finished using

Internet security

No data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, ActionAid UK cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your details, we make our best effort to ensure their security on our systems.

Your personal data

We will retain your information for as long as you have an active relationship with ActionAid. If you cease to have an active relationship with us or request to receive no further contact, we will retain some basic information in order to avoid sending you unwanted materials in the future, and to ensure that we don't accidentally duplicate information.

Will my information ever go outside the UK?

ActionAid is aware that countries outside the European Economic Area have differing approaches to data privacy laws, and that enforcement may not be as robust as it is within Europe's borders. 

If you are a child sponsor or Next Step supporter, some of your personal data will be shared with ActionAid members in other parts of the world to enable the operation of these programmes. This information does not include financial details and is only ever shared in this way for defined purposes, namely to send child messages or programme updates from the country you support.

Organisations we work with who process data in the USA have verified their data processing standards meet the EU-US Privacy Shield, which sets out clear safeguards and transparency responsibilities for US-based organisations processing data from EU citizens. 

Can you deliver my gift directly to the recipient?

Yes. And you can personalise the message online before it is sent.

Can you deliver Gifts in Action abroad?

We can. Order quickly and easily online or call us free on 0800 085 8550 to make arrangements.

Returns policy

We very much hope you won't be. But if you aren't happy with your gift cards or if they are damaged, please call 01460 238 047 to arrange a refund or replacement.

Delivery times

Your order should be with you within 3-5 working days from the date of your order. Please note that we will not be able to send out cards until 15 October.

If you are having a gift delivered in the UK and it's more than 8 working days since your order, please call us on 01460 238 047 and we'll investigate. In the case of overseas delivery, please contact us on the same number if your gift does not arrive within 12 working days.

Please note that the last postage date for paper cards to arrive in time for Christmas has passed. However, you can still order our print-at-home cards right up until the last minute! This will be delivered to your inbox immediately upon checkout.
